Join us for an insightful talk by Professor Jon Bridle, who will explore the critical importance of biodiversity and its rapid decline, highlighting its implications for poverty, health, and social justice. He will discuss the role of biological research and universities in addressing the intertwined ecological and climate crises. Through engaging examples, including European daisies, butterflies, and tropical fruit flies, Professor Bridle will illustrate how biodiversity research at UCL contributes to our understanding of ecological resilience and adaptation in response to environmental changes.
Following the talk, attendees are invited to a reception at the Grant Museum, where they can experience an immersive virtual reality (VR) exhibit which delves into coral ecosystems. This immersive experience, part of UCL's commitment to fostering understanding of biodiversity and environmental challenges, encourages guests to engage with the data and research that shape our understanding of the natural world.
For more information on the VR experience, visit Datascape Realities and explore the Grant Museum's Virtual Worlds.
We look forward to seeing you there!
