ATAUK 2021

Family & Education

African Teachers' Award UK, ATAUK celebrates the recognition of outstanding and exceptional teachers of African heritage in the UK.

A teacher takes a hand, opens a mind and touches a heart....ATAUK 2021

During these historical times of black lives, it is time to recognise and celebrate the outstanding achievements of African teachers in the UK. Unprecedented despite numerous awards in different fields, ATAUK 21 wishes to provide a platform to confer annual awards to nominated professional educators of African heritage across all academic levels.

It is indeed exciting times for the celebration of the African professional who works tirelessly and relentlessly in the midst of limited opportunities of professional recognition.

The award will be presented under the following 8 categories:

  1. Exemplary Early years and Primary teacher of African Heritage
  2. Outstanding and Impactful Headteacher of African Heritage
  3. Exceptional and Creative Secondary school teacher of African Heritage
  4. Outstanding and Impactful Principal of African Heritage
  5. Exceptional and Creative FE/Sixth Form teacher of African Heritage
  6. Outstanding and Exemplary in Teaching and Research HE lecturer of African Heritage
  7. Highly professional, exceptional and inspirational education professional of African Heritage
  8. ATAUK Honourary award

ATAUK promises to fill the void in the awards industry for the African teacher who has been overlooked but has effectively contributed to transforming the lives of young people in the UK. In the community spirit of the African proverb that it takes a village to raise a child, African professionals are encouraged to celebrate one another in all fields especially in education because 'Teaching is the profession on which all other professions depend':(Darling-Hammond L (2018) Transforming education, Stanford.
