Behind the hype - Finastra and Rise London have collaborated to bring a new series of meetup events breaking down overhyped topics in fintech. Our first topic will be APIs – a common term (over)used by many in finance 🏦

During this meetup we will be bringing to life APIs and demonstrating real uses of APIs in the world of finance. Less hype and theory, more practical implementation of APIs.

This meetup is free to attend, open to all, and we expect developers, fintech founders and banks among others to join us.

Speakers:

Brad van Leeuwen, VP Partnerships and Marketing, Railsbank

Brad runs Railsbank’s banking partners and marketing. Previously, he was at dopay, a Middle Eastern neobank that worked with companies like Uber and McDonalds. Before that, as an investor, he backed Russia’s 1st and largest online insurer and a debt platform that buys 40% of Turkey’s bad loans yearly. He's been a Techstars mentor since Techstars launched in London and has contributed to the OECD's working group on Open Banking.

Bruce Pannaman, Co-Founder, StorkCard

Bruce and his team are on a mission to help parents with the high costs of having children such as low parental leave pay and expensive childcare in the UK. Bruce's background is in data science with some of London's biggest Ed-Tech companies, however, at StorkCard he oversees all microservice, banking systems & mobile app development. He has managed the full integration of Railsbank services & APIs into the joint account & cards aspect of StorkCard and understands what it takes to put together a card program in the current BAAS paradigm that is taking over the fintech space today.

Clare Whitehead, Fintech Platform Manager, Rise

Clare manages the fintech platform at Rise, created by Barclays. In her role she engages with a number of the hottest fintechs in the ecosystems and is involved with the Barclays Accelerator powered by Techstars.

Ryan Clifford, Developer Relations Lead, Finastra

Ryan leads building the developer community for Finastra's open fintech platform, FusionFabric.cloud. He helps developers to work with Finastra's APIs and develop apps which can be consumed by Financial Institutions. Ryan previously worked as an API Product Manager at Barclays.
