Block-Sprint is a hackathon run over a period of two weeks aimed at fostering rapid innovation in the payments and decentralised finance spaces utilising blockchain and AI. About this Event
Following the application deadline on Sunday 10th at 18:00, please send at least one team member to present your idea for the hackathon and hear if you've qualified. Qualifiying teams will have the chance to poach members on teams that do not make it through.
About Block-Sprint
The UCL Centre for Blockchain Technologies are running the blockchain technology hackathon of the year this November in partnership with Ripple and supported by Capital Enterprise. Join us at multiple events from the 11th – 22nd November to help accelerate innovation in the areas of Payments and Decentralised Finance utilising DLT and AI supported by experts in these domains.
Who is Block-Sprint aimed at?
The hackathon is aimed at companies using blockchain technologies and AI with an interest in payments and decentralised finance, blockchain developers, data scientists and students.

Block-Sprint is focused on promoting innovation in the payments and decentralised finance domains. See our website or come to the information evening to learn more about the different use cases and pain points you’ll get support on with infrastructure and from domain experts through the hackathon.
Applying to be part of Block-Sprint
Come along to the Application Evening to join a team or pitch your idea or if you are all set apply here. All teams must be composed of at least 4 people from at least two groups of stakeholders (e.g. individuals from more than one company; individuals from one company plus students; students from different institutions; In short, you cannot all be from the same organisation!). We suggest the following roles for your team members:
Blockchain Developer
Software Developer
Business Domain Expert
Entrepreneur
Data Scientist
Teams must submit their application before 18:00 on Sunday 10th November. Teams who successfully make it through will be invited to pitch to the judges at this Kick Off event; some teams will be selected to proceed through the rest of the hackathon programme.
Why take part?
This is a great opportunity to come up with new ideas in the payments and decentralised finance spaces. You’ll be supported by domain experts who will be helping you refine your ideas and developers who’ll help you build out a prototype solution. Our aim in this hackathon is to give you all the support you’ll need to learn, build, create and innovate. And on top of that there are great prizes for the winners including a cash prize of £2000, chance to present at a premier blockchain conference and the support to build out your winning idea should you wish to do so (we hope you will)!
