From Extinction Rebellion to Bill Gates, the support for government change for climate action is clear. But what should the role of business and finance be in making this happen? How does their involvement in rule-making impact democracy?
In late November, we'll be exploring social movements with Nisreen Elsaim. Join us for this special deepdive - online or at Kings Cross Impact Hub - for a lively discussion and Q&A with two prominent thinkers in this field, Jennifer Allyn and Alan Schwartz.
About the speakers
Jennifer Allyn is Director of Programs and Campaigns at ClimateVoice, whose mission is to mobilise the voice of the workforce to urge companies to go 'all in' on climate, both in business practices and policy advocacy.
Alan Schwartz is founder and funder of the Universal Commons project, building strategic relationships with philanthropists, social investors, non-profits and other stakeholders to drive change. See his article 'Why Sustainable Investment Means Investing in Advocacy'.
The Wellbeing Economy Alliance (WEAll)
WEAll is a collaboration of organisations, alliances, movements and individuals working together to change the economic system to one which serves people and planet, first and foremost. For us, the question is how: thatโs why we set up WEAll Read. It's a book club exploring the ideas behind the wellbeing economy and how best to take action.
Upcoming WEAll Read Events
December: Christmas break.
January 26th 7-9pm: we'll be exploring the role of technology in the wellbeing economy in conversation with Azeem Azhar, author of Exponential.
