Improvisation in Teacher Training

โ€œLearning is experience, everything else is just informationโ€ โ€“ Einstein.

By using improvisation on teacher education courses we allow the trainees to experience and reflect on the soft skills of teaching and see how they can bring aspects of their identity into the classroom.

In this session we will explore different improvisation tasks, find out how they can enhance training courses, and see what impact they can have on the trainer and the trainee.

Caroline has been teaching English since 2009 and started training in 2013. She has taught a variety of courses including CELTA and bespoke courses for specific groups of in-service teachers. She has delivered training to groups of multi-lingual and mono-lingual trainees and has experience of designing courses and preparing materials to suit the needs of the trainees. Caroline is currently the Assistant Director of Studies for IH London.
