You are warmly invited to an enchanting evening at Daunt Books Marylebone on Tuesday 30 April from 6.30–8 pm to celebrate the launch of Enchanted Islands: Travels Through Myth & Magic, Love & Loss by Laura Coffey.
This is Laura's debut book and the story of her journey around the islands of the Mediterranean searching for the real-life inspiration behind the fantastical lands of The Odyssey. It combines travel writing with memoir and nature writing (birds, cold water swimming) with, of course, a twist of mythology.
Spend the evening with a narcissistic polyamorous Greek hero, be transported to wild sea-kingdoms where witches and goddesses and one-eyed monsters roam, navigate sea-monsters and whirlpools, drink the wine of the gods, and celebrate launching this beauty out into the world.
This event is also a way of honouring the memory of Dr Paul Coffey, Laura's wonderful father, who asked her to write, and who would have been so proud.
