Exploring Consent through Pop Culture

Charity & Causes

An interactive workshop to empower young women to exercise  & own their sexual autonomy

We can all probably agree that pop culture has influenced us to some degree when it comes to the way we approach love, sex and relationships.

Recently, the issue of consent has been one of the most talked about, remember that video about consent and tea?

But how confident do you actually feel in exercising that right to say no, or even yes?

This interactive workshop is designed to empower young women to exercise and own their sexual autonomy.

Looking at scenes from popular TV shows and Films, together we’ll explore the ways female sexual autonomy is denied or straight up ignored.

Before BoJo’s government, Parliament showed a willingness to change the way we look at gendered violence.

But laws alone can’t change a societal problem.

So in true Fly Fangirl Club fashion, we’re going to do what we do best:

  • Bring women together
  • Empower each other
  • Have fun doing it

This workshop is totes FREE to attend, welcome drinks and refreshments will be provided throughout. All we need from you is an open mind and respect for other opinions and experiences.

We’re so pleased to bring you this event at one of Shoreditch's newest venues. Glass House Brick Lane, a hybrid of a bar and gaming studio. This event is in partnership with FORWARD UK (IG/Twitter: @Forwarduk_) and TuWezeshe Akina Dada (Twitter: @Tuwezeshedada).
