The StopWatch Girls Project is a national research project, devised in response to girls and young women reporting stop-search encounters to be frightening, sexually degrading and humiliating experiences.
The aim of this research is to learn more about these types of experiences and what can be done to challenge them.
Everyone involved in this project is female and our motto is βResearch About Us, By Us, For Usβ. We believe that women are best placed to research and tell our own stories.
We will use these findings as the foundations of a national campaign to improve policies around women and the police, tackle misogyny in the police force and support and empower young women who have been victimised.
