Good Web Network in Conversation with Paul Scully MP

Government & Politics

Join us for our next Good Web Network event, in conversation with Paul Scully, Minister for Tech & the Digital Economy.

Is it possible to create a level playing field for big tech? How can we give consumers better control of their data? What would stricter regulation for digital markets look like? These are some of the questions the new Digital Markets Unit (DMU) hopes to provide some answers to. Nested within the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA), the envisioned pro-competition regulatory unit will be tasked with overseeing the conduct of tech firms deemed to have β€˜strategic market status’.

With the first reading of the bill expected in Spring 2023, the question remains: how can market regulation best be used to promote digital services with citizens’ interests at their core?

Join us for our next Good Web Network event, in conversation with Paul Scully, Minister for Tech & the Digital Economy about the potential for digital markets regulation in the UK to help build a Good Web.

We want this to be an interactive discussion, so please come along for a lively conversation and drinks reception, with your thoughts, comments and questions!

Doors will open at 17:30, with the conversation starting at 18:00.
