How women always mattered in politics – but not everyone noticed

Government & Politics

Join us on Thursday 3 October for an event on the pivotal role women have played throughout the history of British politics.

Our Director, Professor Rosie Campbell, will be joined by Cathy Newman, journalist at Channel 4 News and author of Bloody Brilliant Women: The Pioneers, Revolutionaries and Geniuses Your History Teacher Forgot to Mention, and our Chair, Julia Gillard, to discuss how women always mattered in politics – but not everyone noticed.

This event is part of Making Sense of Society, an event series by the Faculty of Social Science and Public Policy at King's College London.

18:30: Guest arrival
19:00: Event starts
20:30: Drinks reception

This is a free event, which means we overbook to allow for no-shows and to avoid empty seats. While we generally do not have to turn people away, this does mean we cannot guarantee everyone a place. Admission is on a first come, first served basis.

Please note we may video and take photos at the event for our own internal and external marketing purposes – if you would prefer not to be featured, please let us know in advance or make yourself known to a member of the events team on the night.
