Launch of the Digitised Archive of the Irish in Britain

Family & Education

An event to celebrate the launch of the Digitised Archive of the Irish in Britain at London Metropolitan University.

Join us for a canapΓ© reception to celebrate the launch of the Digitised Archive of the Irish in Britain at London Metropolitan University on Monday 9 March 2020, between 6.30 and 8.30pm.Β

Founded in 1984, this unique and ever-growing archive of books, documents, photographs, posters, audio, video and a huge variety other materials catalogues the history of Irish people in Britain from the late nineteenth century to the present. Already hugely popular among researchers, students, journalists, and others, 2018 funding from the Irish government's Emigrant Support Programme supported the digitisation of many items to be online and openly accessible from anywhere in the world.

Speaker include

  • Adrian O'Neill, Irish Ambassador to the UK
  • Stephen McGann,Β actor, author, and science communicator
  • Professor Lynn Dobbs, Vice-Chancellor, London Metropolitan University
