With activity responding to this year’s LFA theme ‘In Common’, LFA RIBA Late returns for 2023 with a full schedule of live performances, installations, talks and tours across multiple floors of the historic 66 Portland Place.
The Royal College of Art collaborates with RIBA for the second time, responding to Cities of the Night with a commissioned DJ set by multidisciplinary artist, DJ and voyager Chooc Ly Tan, taking us into the night and creating new visions of reality by subverting and repurposing systems and tools we use to understand the world around us.
Visitors will also have the opportunity to grab a drink from our pop-up bar and visit 'The Architect Has Left The Building' in the Architecture Gallery with a special programme of live talks, sound and vision - one spectacular evening of activity you don’t want to miss. 7pm - The Architect Has Left the Building – Artist talk with Jim Stephenson
Join renowned architectural photographer and filmmaker Jim Stephenson for an introduction to his dual-screen film installation which weaves together moments of joy and intimacy, questioning what happens when new buildings open their doors.Commissioned as a response to this year’s London Festival of Architecture theme, ‘In Common’, the installation offers a series of cinematic vignettes documenting how people engage with the built environment.
7.30pm - Simon James Sound Performance
Mixing field recordings with electronic sources, experience a unique soundscape and response to ‘The Architect Has Left the Building’ by musician and sound artist Simon James.

Join the RIBA Learning team for den-making in the Clore Learning Centre, building environments together and exploring what we have in common.

Additionally, a night walk is programmed as part of LFA RIBA Late and the Cities of the Night exhibition.
10pm - Into the Night: a collective night walk
Marylebone collective night-walk led by artist Alisa Oleva, exploring through scores and senses what the night brings and how we navigate it. Free, but booking is required to secure a place.
Meeting point: 9.45pm at 66 Portland Place reception.
