The Davidson Prize presents an awards ceremony to celebrate the finalists of the 2023 edition as part of the London Festival of Architecture

As part of the London Festival of Architecture 2023, The Davidson Prize presents an awards ceremony and drinks reception kindly hosted by Istituto Marangoni in Shoreditch to celebrate the longlisted, finalist and winning teams.

This year's submissions responded to the theme of โ€˜Somewhere to Call Home', proposing innovative design solutions for a home community where people who have experienced the trauma of homelessness and housing insecurity are given time to settle, recover and find their bearings.

The 2023 judging panel was chaired by dRMMโ€™s Sadie Morgan with development manager Yemรญ Alรกdรฉrun, director Osama Bhutta, winner of the 2022 prize Charles Holland and curator Priya Khanchandani.

The three finalists were chosen from a 16-strong longlist and were each given ยฃ5,000 to develop their proposals further. The 2023 finalists are:

  • More Not Less by Re-Group: ZCD Architects with Madeleine Kessler Architects and Datshiane Navanayagam, Architecture Doing Place, JCLA, Webb Yates Engineers, Charles Jegar
  • Helping Hands by Studio MUTT and Neighbourhood with The Independence Initiative, Hugh Baird College, Islington Hostel Outreach, Amber Akaunu, Peter Oโ€™Neil and Dead Good Poets Society
  • Home Building by Wild & SNaB

The longlisted and finalist entries will be showcased, and the winners of the ยฃ10,000 prize and the People's Choice Prize will be announced on the night.

18:00 - Arrival - Drinks and canapรฉs served

18:45 - Speeches & Awards Ceremony

21:00ย  - Event Ends

We look forward to seeing you there for an evening of celebrations!

The Davidson Prize is run by the Alan Davidson Foundation which was founded by the late architect and visualiser Alan Davidson. In 2012 Alan was diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease and sadly lost his battle against the disease in 2018. Alan set up the Foundation with a view to helping others also afflicted by MND and to support collaboration in architecture, visualisation and design. A final wish was that his Foundation initiate a yearly architecture and communication prize. The dual purpose of the prize is to promote people-focused approaches to architecture and to celebrate innovative communication, visualisation, technology and art.

The event is free to attend, however donations to the Alan Davidson Foundation will be welcomed. The Foundation looks to support a wide range of causes linked to MND research, care and initiatives that benefit those with disabling neurological conditions.
