The Davidson Prize presents an awards ceremony to celebrate the finalists of the 2022 edition as part of the London Festival of Architecture

As part of the London Festival of Architecture 2022, The Davidson Prize presents an awards ceremony and drinks reception hosted at Pearson Lloyd's Yorkton Workshops in Hackney to celebrate the longlisted, finalist and winning teams.

This year's submissions responded to the theme of 'Co-Living: A New Future?', proposing new ideas for how co-living could be a solution to the way we think about our homes as well as our communities in the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic.

The 2022 judging panel was chaired by AHMM’s Paul Monaghan with artist Yinka Ilori, journalist Amy Frearson, educator and curator Manijeh Verghese, architect Mary Duggan and winner of the 2021 prize Agnieszka Glowacka.

The three finalists were chosen from a 14-strong longlist and were each given Β£5,000 to develop their proposals further. The 2022 finalists are:

  • Co-Living in the Countryside by Charles Holland Architects with Quality of Life Foundation, Verity-Jane Keefe, Joseph Zeal-Henry
  • Communiversity by Moebius Studio (Moebius Studio, Totem Record, OHMG Video, The Panics, Alex Klein Productions, Armanios Design)
  • It Takes a Village by Child-Hood (GankΓ΄gui, NOOMA Studio, London Early Years Foundation, Centric Lab)

For the first time this year, The Davidson Prize also ran a People’s Choice Prize, which was kindly sponsored by VitrA Bathrooms.

The winners of the Β£10,000 prize and the People's Choice Prize will be announced on the night, and the exhibition showcasing the longlisted entries will open its doors until Sunday 19 June 2022.

We look forward to seeing you there for an evening of drinks and celebrations!

The Davidson Prize is run by the Alan Davidson Foundation which was founded by the late architect and visualiser Alan Davidson. In 2012 Alan was diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease and sadly lost his battle against the disease in 2018. Alan set up the Foundation with a view to helping others also afflicted by MND and to support collaboration in architecture, visualisation and design. A final wish was that his Foundation initiate a yearly architecture and communication prize. The dual purpose of the prize is to promote people-focused approaches to architecture and to celebrate innovative communication, visualisation, technology and art.

The event is free to attend, however donations to the Alan Davidson Foundation will be welcomed. The Foundation looks to support a wide range of causes linked to MND research, care and initiatives that benefit those with disabling neurological conditions.
