“Marooned uses communal storytelling, aka theatre, to confront the epidemic of life-threatening despair, shame and grief. It does so with humour and compassion and honesty. A play about suicide that needs to be seen" Sydney Morning Herald
Join us for a filmed reading of the play ‘Marooned’ and discussion on Tuesday 4 March from 19.00 at Bush House Auditorium, hosted jointly by the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology & Neuroscience at King’s College London, 10 Windsor Walk and the Institute of Psychoanalysis.
The performance will be followed by a panel discussion about suicide and some of the themes in the play. The evening will conclude with a drinks reception.
Please note, this is an in-person only event.
About Marooned
Marooned examines the deep-seated reasons why some individuals take their own lives. Set in a waiting room in the afterlife, the play centres on four souls, one woman and three men all 'marooned'. These four strangers want to get out of this room and go home, but how? Maybe there is something they must do. But what? Apart from the seats, the only thing in this room is each other.
The play has been performed over 80 times in Australia attracting standing ovations and a loyal following. It is witty and thought-provoking despite the subject matter. In the UK, the play has been used in training for psychiatrists, psychologists, and mental health nurses.
