Experience the breaking of fast at the UK's largest community and cultural event in Ramadan

After 2 years of online events, we are excited to share live iftar events with you all again!

We've missed the interaction with new faces, the warmth of sharing a meal together and the true essence of Ramadan. Covid has had a lasting impact on us all and more than anything it has taught us that community is very important.

So let's bring the spirit of Ramadan back to it's true form and be united once again, In Shaa Allah.

What is Open Iftar?

As part of our Ramadan Festival series, the Open Iftar events are the flagship initiative of Ramadan Tent Project, a community institution developing the knowledge, understanding and experience of Ramadan & fasting for all.

Since 2013, Open Iftar has been inviting people from all walks of life, different faith backgrounds and none, to come together to break fast, share food & engage in inspiring conversations.

Open Iftar bridges communities; it is a space in which our commonalities are highlighted, our differences celebrated and human connection is forged. Invitation is FREE and OPEN to ALL.

What to expect?

Engaging speeches, bridge-building, free food, exciting stalls, community cohesion, spiritual reflection, prayers, great conversations!

Ramadan

The ninth month of the Islamic year, during which strict fasting is observed from dawn to sunset. It is within the month of Ramadan, the Holy Qur'an was first revealed to Prophet Muhammad. Ramadan is the holiest month in the Islamic calendar.

Iftar

At sunset in the evening, a prayer called Maghrib is observed, followed by a meal to break the fast. This meal to break the fast is called Iftar.
