Reflections: Laura Parker Solo Exhibition Private View

Performing & Visual Arts

Join us for the Private View of Laura Parker's inaugural solo exhibition, at 508 Gallery in Chelsea.

Visual artist Laura Parker is hosting her inaugural solo show ‘Reflections’ at 508 Gallery on the King’s Road in London, from 19th - 26th September.

Laura is a self-taught, London-based artist working in oils, acrylic and mixed media. Working in a variety of styles - from dramatic underwater views and expansive landscapes, to intimate still lifes and abstracted works - Laura is bringing together a fascinating collection of works charting her decades long career in paint.

The natural world, and in particular water (scenes above it, below it, and reflections in it), are a constant stimulus to Laura’s work. At present Laura finds greater self-expression in working more abstractly, creating artworks that are less representational but more emotional, expressive and authentic to her artistic vision.

Laura has previously exhibited in numerous group shows across London, as well as in Bath, Cheltenham, Southend, Beaminster, Edinburgh, New York and New Jersey, however this is her first solo show.

Curator Catherine Sweet, Founder of BobCat Gallery, says: “Laura uses bold colours and energetic mark making, with her compositions easily guiding the eye around her canvas. She builds up layers intuitively, and the results are vibrant and dynamic works which tug at memories just out of reach.

It’s my absolute pleasure to curate this show, bringing together just a taste of Laura’s brilliant collection of works, including brand new pieces in a more abstract style, featuring paint, collage, pen and pencil on panel, in a process of multiple additions and subtractions that build up a rich history in each work.”
