Sing Choirs of Angels

Religion & Spirituality

Seasonal music, readings and poetry create a celebratory yet reflective atmosphere ahead of the big day

Sing Choirs of Angels is a recent addition to our busy Advent calendar and has proved immensely popular. It is a mix of seasonal music, readings and poetry creating a celebratory yet reflective atmosphere ahead of the big day.

The event takes place on Christmas Eve at 4:30pm for all those who cannot make it to Midnight Mass or for those who need a moment to draw breath and reflect in this busiest of times.

The service is open to all and free to attend. We request that you please register to reserve your place. This helps us manage numbers and enables us to keep you updated about the service.

The service provides an opportunity for St Brideโ€™s Choir to explore non-biblical sacred texts - music this year will include Lennox Berkeley's In Wintertime and Paul Drayton's How like an angel came I down, settings of poetry by Betty Askwith and Thomas Traherne respectively.

A pre-recorded version of the service will air online at the service time on our website and on our YouTube channel. All registering will also receive a direct link to the online service.

Alternatively, in the UK, text 5STBRIDES or 10STBRIDES or 20STBRIDES to 70470 to donate ยฃ5, ยฃ10 or ยฃ20.

St Bride's has earned Visit England's 'Weโ€™re Good To Goโ€™ kite mark so visitors can rest assured their visit will be Covid safe.

Here's a little musical taster of St Bride's Choir as they sing composer Michael Head's most enduring work, The Little Road to Bethlehem. A beautiful setting of a touching poem by Margaret Rose.
