Lecture title: The private turn in development finance: From Monterrey to Seville
Lecture abstract: In this lecture, Professor Van Waeyenberge explores major shifts in development finance over the last two decades. She examines the trajectory from the first summit on Financing for Development in Monterrey in 2002, to the current deliberations ahead of the fourth summit in Seville this year. Professor Van Waeyenberge pays particular attention to the implications of the private turn in development for the financing and provision of essential services in the Global South.
Lecture title: Sustainable structural transformation and Industrial policy for the 21st century
Lecture abstract: In this lecture, Professor Antonio Andreoni discusses recent developments in industrial policy and the ways in which competition over technologies and trade wars are reshaping the international economic order. He focuses on three drivers of industrial policy β climate change, techno-nationalism and structural transformation β and their impact in different country contexts. Professor Andreoni further explores how to reimagine the worlds of production towards sustainable prosperity in the 21st century.
