Writer and archivist Jon Newman discusses his recently published book about John Ruskin - the most influential thinker of the Victorian Age

Writer and archivist Jon Newman discusses his recently published book about John Ruskin, probably the most influential thinker of the Victorian age. Ruskin forged his ideas in a South London suburb, from where he witnessed with increasing horror the destruction of the natural environment through railway building and uncontrolled suburban growth.

Event organised by The Friends of Durning Library.

It is anticipated that this event will be an in-person event in Durning Library, however, it may switch to Zoom - if this is the case - attendees will be notified in advance with all the appropriate joining details. We do hope that we can meet in person however.
