Chapters of Accidents. A Writer's Memoir by Alexander Baron Book Launch INPERSON EVENT

In this exclusive event, we discuss the life and work of the Alexander Baron (1917-1999), as illuminated by his vivid memoir Chapters of Accidents, scheduled for publication by Vallentine Mitchell this September.

With a panel of experts, including the writer’s son Nick Baron and Professor Colin Holmes, who wrote an extended Introduction to the memoir, we delve into Baron’s career as a left-wing political activist and journalist in the 1930s, present at Cable Street and editor of the communist youth magazine Challenge; as a Second World War soldier, one of the first to land in France on D-Day; and later as a highly successful novelist and screenwriter.

Join us for a series of short talks, with plenty of time for discussion and Q&A, plus refreshments.

Free.

You will be able to purchase a copy of the book at the event.

Archives Live is an exciting programme of events that are free for everyone, with special guests including an audience Q&A.

Showcasing the wide range of collections at Hackney Archives, we welcome you to our relaxed and informative space.
