Bagboard Presents – Our Collective Power on the Planet

Community & Culture

We are constantly being bombarded with scary images in the press related to the environment; pictures of melting polar ice caps and single-use plastic piling up, resulting in apocalypse fatigue. The Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, even declared a climate emergency leading to the first-ever London Climate Action Week in July.

We think it’s time to focus on the change for good that is happening as individuals come together to create opportunities for change. Join us, in partnership with the Sustainability Hub on the 19th November in Holborn, London for an uplifting evening of collaborative action, inspiring stories from change-makers creating a positive impact on our planet and an opportunity to mingle and share stories alongside drinks and nibbles.

Expect to learn, be inspired, feel empowered and leave with a plan on how we can make a difference together.

The evening will be in 2 parts

1) Speakers

A 10-minute introduction by our Head of Partnerships, Shosh Shetty at Bagboard. 3 x 10-minute speakers talking about the work that they do to promote sustainability and happier world, followed by a 20-minute Q&A panel.

The confirmed speakers are:

Shosh Shetty, Head of Partnerships at Bagboard www.bagboard.com Bagboard is a new advertising platform that brings conscious brands and people closer together to drive sustainable environmental and social change. Our first mission? Removing 1 billion single-use plastic bags from the ocean.

Trewin Restorick, Founder and CEO Hubbub UK www.hubbub.org.uk which transforms the way environmental messages are communicated by bringing people and organisations together as a force for good.

Previously Trewin created Global Action Plan the UK’s leading environmental behaviour change charity. Trewin is a frequent media commentator on environmental issues and was trained by Al Gore as one of his climate change ambassadors. He has chaired Student Hubs http://www.studenthubs.org/ and been a trustee for the New Economics Foundation.

Heylene and Henry, co-founders of BubblyTree. www.bubblytree.com Two friends living in London with skills and experience in Technology, Engineering, Quality/Sustainability, Finance and Business. Between them they are a Chartered Accountant, hold a Masters in Science/Technology and Audit, and also an MBA.

It all started with the idea to build something meaningful with the help of an app. Each time you watch a socially responsible advertisement, the money generated will be used to plant trees. Their dream is to plant 100,000 trees in 3 years and 1 million in 5 years.

2) Networking and general chatter

A celebration of the evening, of each other, of all our hard work to change the world for the better. Have a few drinks and share a few nibbles surrounded by others who are doing good.
