Behind the Hype: Lending

Science & Technology

Behind the Hype is a new series of events breaking down overhyped topics in fintech; the next session on P2P and SME lending.

Behind the hype – Finastra and Rise London have collaborated to bring a new series of meetup events breaking down overhyped topics in fintech. Our next topic will be lending – exploring peer 2 peer and SME funding.

During this meetup we will be bringing to life how:

β€’ StepLadder is using P2P lending to help tackle the mortgage market

β€’ Funding Xchange is disrupting the inefficient SME funding space

This meetup is free to attend, open to all, and we expect developers, fintech founders and banks among others to join us.

Agenda:

17:30-18:00: Registration and drinks

18:00-19:00: Presentations and Q&A by StepLadder and Funding Xchange

19:00-20:00: Networking and drinks

Speakers:

Katrin Herrling, CEO & Co-Founder, Funding Xchange

Katrin co-founded FUNDING XCHANGE (FXE) setting out to use access to new live data sources and advanced analytics to disrupt the inefficient SME funding space by creating the first UK marketplace for businesses to easily access bank and non-bank funding solutions in one place. FXE launched in 2015, announced an exclusive partnership with KMPG Small Business Accounting in October 2015, and was designated as an official finance referral platform by the British Government in November 2016.

Today, FXE is working with nine UK banks to help customers access SME funding solutions, delivering services to the UK’s largest price comparison websites (e.g., MoneySuperMarket) and building marketplaces that are integrated into banks’ SME banking proposition.

FXE has pioneered the use of live, validated data sources to transform the underwriting of SME loans. By automating decisioning, FXE is reducing the costs for lenders by more than 70% and giving small businesses transparency of the options they are eligible for. With the advent of Open Banking in 2018, FXE is continuing to lead the integration of new data sources and making it possible for lenders to make instant lending decisions.

Before founding FXE, Katrin spent seven years at Bain & Company, working closely with banks and other financial services institutions across Europe. Prior to joining Bain, Katrin led American Express’ strategy and business development team in London.
