Bread & Jam November Social: The Future Of Food Retail

Food & Drink

Join us for our legendary monthly socials, where food and drink founders and industry experts gather for an evening of networking, sharing new ideas and advice, learning new things and making new friends.

Our socials are free to attend: No need to arrive on the dot or stay ‘til the end - it’s a social!

What happens: At each Social we are joined by an industry icon who will share invaluable industry insights to kick the evening off, around 7pm. They will give a very short, 10 minute, talk, swiftly followed by a Question & Answer session and networking.

This month’s theme: The Future of Food Retail

Guest Speaker: Scott Winston started his career in fine food retail some 20 years ago at Harvey Nichols Foodmarket.  Scott discovered a passion for food and the food business and moved quickly through the retail operations and purchasing ranks to ultimately reach the level of Buyer.

An opportunity to move to prestigious department store Harrods tore Scott away from Harvey Nichols.  During his time at Harrods Scott explored different buyer roles and at one point or another was responsible for every category within the Foodhall across both ambient and fresh food ranges.  Scott also played a key role in organising and managing Harrods restaurant food buying across the 20 own-bought restaurants, and played a key role in major food projects and promotions such as the Thomas Keller French Laundry pop-up.

Looking for new challenges Scott moved across Hyde Park from Knightsbridge to Oxford Street to join the Selfridges buying team in the role of Grocery Buyer.  During this period Scott launched many campaigns and seasonal ranges including Selfridges own-brand response to health and well-being in the form of Selfridges ReBalance food range.  Scott also headed up the Project Ocean initiative to remove all water sold in single use plastic bottles across Foodhalls and restaurants, a bold and visionary statement by the world famous store.

Most recently Scott pursues his passion to help small and start-up food brands achieve their goals through various mentoring and support programs.  Scott also connects brands with a buyer and distribution network and judges regularly on several industry panels.

Who will be there: Food and drink entrepreneurs, individuals thinking of starting a food & drink business, industry experts.

Thanks to The Camden Grocer for supporting our community by providing this fantastic space.

Please register on Eventbrite so we know you’re attending. Socials are really popular, so we need to make sure that there’s enough room for everyone. See you there!
