Back to basics: everything you wanted to know about the 1980 Hague Convention but were too afraid to ask!

Join CALA for a free ‘back to basics’ training event on everything to do with the 1980 Hague Convention at 6pm on Thursday, 30 March 2023, hosted in conjunction with 4PB.

We will be discussing everything you need to know, including:

- Representing applicants – from day 1, all the way through to implementing a return

- What to do with a respondent – defences, evidence and possible challenges

- What judges want, and what judges don’t want

- A Q and A session with the Panel

Speakers: Chris Hames KC (also a Recorder and section 9 judge), Mani Basi, Charlotte Baker, James Netto and Forum Shah

All members are of course very welcome to attend; the talk will primarily be aimed at those who are new to this area of work or have recently qualified, or those seeking a refresher in this area. This is your chance for an open discussion about all things abduction, and to ask any questions you might have.

This will be a hybrid event, with pizza and drinks to follow for those attending in person. It will not be recorded and will take place at 4PB's offices on 6th Floor, St Martin’s Court, 10 Paternoster Row, London EC4M 7HP
