LSBU are proud to present this inaugural lecture by Professor Eiman Aleem as part of our inaugural lectures programme for 2022-23.
Professor Aleem is part of LSBU's School of Applies Sciences where she is Professor of Biomedical Sciences, Course Director for BSc (Hons) Biomedical Sciences, Head of the Cancer Biology and Therapy laboratory. You can read more about her career below and we'll update this page in the coming months. We hope you'll join us to hear more about Professor Aleem's crucial research.
Inaugural lectures are an occasion of significance in our professorsโ careers at the University. They provide an opportunity to recognise and celebrate the achievements of our recently appointed professors who are undertaking research, innovation, engagement and teaching activities in their field of expertise.
Our lectures are open to all LSBU Group staff & students as well as to members of the public and are free of charge.

Biography: Professor Eiman Aleem is Associate Professor of Biomedical Science at the School of Applied Sciences, LSBU. She studied at Heidelberg University, from where she holds a PhD in Molecular Biology (2001).
After completing her PhD, Professor Aleem has since developed her career researching cancer biology and targeted therapy, and teaching and mentoring students at various levels in higher education.
Her academic appointments in the field of molecular biology include the National Cancer Institute, National Institutes of Health, USA, where she received the NIH Fellows Award for Excellence in Biomedical Research for three consecutive years, at Alexandria University, Egypt, the Karolinksa Institutet, Sweden, the Institute of Molecular Medicine at Phoenix Childrenโs Hospital, and the University of Arizona College of Medicine.
Professor Aleem joined LSBU in 2018 where she is currently director of the Biomedical Sciences Program.
