Celebrate Black History Month with the women making history! Join us at Travers Smith on Wednesday the 23rd October to see how African leadership is transforming healthcare in DR Congo.
The Democratic Republic of Congo is arguably the worldβs poorest country. Inadequate medical infrastructure and persistent health problems have been significant factors limiting development. But it is also a place of hope and creativity, and we want to celebrate the African leaders, both in DR Congo and in the diaspora, who are leading positive change.
Wonder Foundation has been working with the country's leading nursing school, ISSI, for 6 years. We have seen how training competent nurses changes their lives and transforms the settings in which they work. Join our panellists to learn more about this.
Dr Ese Diejamaoh: Monkole Hospital and ISSI, recognised as beacons of excellence with Central Africa.
Dr Carine Miteyo: Congolese doctor practising medicine in the UK. She undertook part of her training at Monkole
Dr Brenda Osieyo: GP & local health care systems developer
Olivia Darby FRSA: Wonder Foundation Director of Policy
Chair: Raphaella Gabrasadig, Wonder Foundation trustee, and solicitor at Travers Smith
The panel will explore the crucial role of developing a culture of learning, leadership and service within medical schools and clinics.
This will be followed by an opportunity to network others who are interested in creating long-term, sustainable change in Africa by developing and celebrating local leadership.
Start: 6.30 for 7PM
Join us for drinks and networking after the discussion.
