Cluster Illustration Fair at The Old Truman Brewery
Performing & Visual Arts
After a tremendous success at UGLY DUCK venue, bringing 800 people to our opening and another 1300 throughout the week, Cluster London Fairs is pleased to announce the 6th edition of Cluster Illustration Fair.
To build a barn you’ve got to raise supports. A high-rise tower block begins by digging down and anchoring foundations. Bridges factor in loads and distribute them across their framework. A dam is weighted with liquid cement. To achieve something monumental you begin with a support system.
Post-WW2 we engineered a great welfare state, based upon these very principles, that when individuals and communities aim to raise themselves they should be braced and buttressed by social services, health care, education and aid. The arts are no different. To create great culture it is imperative that opportunity exists, that energised talent can make their mark, whilst living a life worth living. However, lottery shortfalls mean Arts Council England have been forced to cut their budget by £156m between 2018-22 and Brexit threatens a further £345m in EU funding. The government safety net is being dismantled.
It falls to self organised initiatives to replace what once existed, to step up to the plate and champion creative minds. Cluster is proud to be part of this resistance, welcoming 35 artists and illustrators to exhibit in London’s most intimate and communal art fair. Including a mix of previous Cluster exhibitors and members, alongside a host of newly discovered names, Cluster Illustration will continue our tradition of fostering innovation and seeding exchange.
Featuring a curated programme of art and events Cluster Illustration is an on-going and progressive model of art fair, an exercise in mutual and unconditional support.
