About the Author

She was not expected to live past the age of ten, but her story of survival faced many challenges of learning to take care of herself, while discovering that sex was a comforting experience, in the wake of the death of her friends who had not survived their own heart illness. Fate was on her side and her life saving journey bought her to England were she was one of the first five children who pioneered the first experiments for a heart valve replacement.

Norma was the only child to survive the experiment and went on to achieve other pioneering challenges during the racism of the seventies. She opened doors for black women to work in an office environment, retail and in the beauty industry, Norma was the first black beauty consultant in Birmingham. After setting beauty trends working on the first black beauty and hair magazine, black Beauty exhibitions, television as a make-up artist and teaching black women a new lifestyle in the world of beauty and cosmetics. Norma gave up her successful career in beauty to travel to Europe and work in the sex industry.

After many years she reinvented herself back into the beauty industry and experienced a whole new life in the United States of America but found herself back in England, the country that saved her life. A story about the survival of fighting to live, sex, fall in love, fighting racism while pioneering changes to the black Beauty industry that recently had a market value of millions. Norma is now a Beauty Assessor and a Transformational Podcaster.
