DASHING EVENT: Tailoring Secrets about The Beatles Suits

Uncategorized

Gordon and Dan will speak about the key to creating the looks and you will have a chance to learn more about secret tailoring details.

Few bands are more famous for their tailored suits than The Beatles. It was an inspired move by Brian Epstein to get them out of scruffy leathers and ‘suit n’ booted’ as he managed their success from the Cavern Club to International stardom. For their very first suits Epstein took the fab four over the Mersey to a local tailor in Birkenhead. It took some persuasion but the band enjoyed their new look, signed a contract with EMI and moved to London.

This was the start of a whole new era and a plethora of outfits were required for shows and appearances. Dougie Millings was the man for the job. An affable and creative tailor in the heart of Soho who would become the bands focal point when it came to image. Working with his son Gordon, Dougie cut dozens of suits each time adding innovative details of his own invention.

For our collection this season we have teamed up bespoke cutter Dan MacAngus and Gordon Millings with the original patterns created for The Beatles. On 21st November you will have a chance to see the patterns and learn more about the creative tailoring that was such a vital part of the bands success.

Gordon and Dan will speak about the key to creating the looks and you will have a chance to learn more about secret tailoring details. Do come by between 6pm-8pm for a rare chance to gain an insight into the era that took tailoring to a new level of cool.
