Data Management Workshop for Early Career Researchers

Science & Technology

What is Data Management and are you doing it right? Learn how to store, share and protect your data to prevent loss and theft!

Please join us for the latest event in our workshop series- Data Managment for ECRs.

Our guest speaker, Dr Benjamin Pierce is Operations Manager for the Future Vaccine Manufacturing Research Hub, which is committed towards researching innovative and more cost-effective vaccines for populations in developing countries. Dr Pierce received a PhD in Chemistry in 2008 from the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill. He has published over 25 peer-reviewed publications and has experience in the research areas of chemistry, polymer chemistry, biomaterials, regenerative medicine and vaccines. Dr Pierce will lead a workshop focusing on the best ways to store and protect your precious data, covering topics such as:

  • Best practice for data storage and back-up
  • Lab book best practice
  • File organisation for pain-free paper writing
  • Sharing files safely

Effective data management is an essential skill for all ECRs. It will make writing papers less stressful, improve data reproducibility and prevent data loss through theft and fire - every researcher's worst nightmare! Hint: backing up your files once a month on a USB stick is not enough!

We will end the session with some informal drinks, nibbles and networking.

We look forward to seeing you!
