Debating London: is state-sponsored assassination ever acceptable?

Community & Culture

Disagreement doesn't need to be disagreeable - have a drink, hear the arguments, meet new people, and then make up your mind.

FREE of charge and open to all

Join us for Debating London, the twice-monthly free public debate series in Vauxhall where we take the edge off talking about the big issues of the day by getting our in-house teams of debaters to do the arguing and give you space to consider new ideas, meet new people, and practice public speaking in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere.

Our in-house debaters - among them corporate leaders, barristers, civil servants, journalists, and entrepreneurs - are united by a single goal: to make the best possible case for either side of the argument. We train them up, then put them to the test in front of a live audience, who decide the outcome in a public vote.

Debate motion

'This House Believes state-sponsored assassination is a legitimate military tactic'

Running order

  • Get to know other guests and find out what they think
  • Hear the club's in-house debaters present their arguments
  • Put your questions and comments to the panel
  • Vote for the speakers who have convinced you the most
  • Stick around for a drink and a chat after the debate
