Launching the 2019/20 Student Design Awards
ย
Our clothes are some of our most treasured possessions: they keep us warm, dry and protected; they help us feel comfortable, to fit in and show affiliation, or to stand out and show difference.
ย
However, the global fashion industry is fraught with problems, from waste to water pollution, problems which cannot be fixed with tweaks to the current system. Instead we need a new future for fashion, and we need design skills to help make that change.
To mark the launch of the 2019/20 RSA Student Design Awards, a panel of design, systems-thinking and fashion futures experts will bring a range of perspectives on how we can accelerate the transition to a regenerative fashion industry.
ย
The event will be followed by a drinks reception in the Benjamin Franklin Room.
ย
The RSA Student Design Awards is a global competition focused around a set of project briefs that challenge participants to tackle the big issues of our time through design thinking.

This event is scheduled in conjunction with the Ellen MacArthur Foundationโs Make Fashion Circular, in partnership with the RSA. With special thanks to the players of Peopleโs Postcode Lottery for their support.
