EMERGENCE Closing Event with Keynote by Sharon Heal, Director of the Museums Association

Join us to reflect on EMERGENCE as the exhibition and events programme draws to a close – featuring a Keynote from Sharon Heal, Director of the Museums Association, called Decolonisation, Decarbonisation and Decompression. Can 21st century museums create space for activism, healing and debate? Sharon explores whether museums can help us face contemporary challenges in a divided society.

Presented by London College of Communication’s Design School, EMERGENCE is an exhibition and events programme presented by the Design School at London College of Communication, UAL exploring what design can do to achieve goals of sustainable production and consumption, biodiversity, inclusiveness, social cohesion and environmental sustainability.

As part of the Closing Event, visitors will be able to find out more about London College of Communication’s MA Design for Social Innovation and Sustainable Futures course, as well as enjoy a drink and enjoy tours of the exhibition before it closes.

About Sharon Heal: Sharon is the Director of the Museums Association, a campaigning membership body that promotes the value of museums to society. She regularly comments on museums and cultural policy in the UK; speaks at conferences and events in the UK and internationally; and has published extensively. Sharon lectures in the history of museums, museum ethics and museums and social impact. She is the chair of the Museum of Homelessness and a member of the Museum Slaskie Council.




This event is part of EMERGENCE, an exhibition and events programme presented by the Design School at London College of Communication, UAL exploring the role of design in working towards goals of sustainable production and consumption, biodiversity, inclusiveness, social cohesion and environmental sustainability.
