In 1987, young people living on the Clapton Park Estate worked with Cultural Partnerships to create the unique film 'Living on the Welfare Estate'. Through a series of songs and music videos they challenged racism and concerns about the imprisonment of Peter Richmond, as well sharing the importance of fashion and friendship in their lives.
This film β recently rediscovered and preserved by Hackney Museum - captures everyday life on the estate in the 1980s. Join us for this screening to see how the estate has changed over the years, and perhaps bring back some memories. You might even be in it!
Drinks reception from 7pm. Film starts 7.30pm.
