With their recent installation 'Between Forests and Skies' Nebbia Works have pushed the boundaries of aluminium, a highly sustainable material that can be recycled infinitely. The pavilion is the product of a collaboration between cultural institutions and the building industry to find pragmatic answers to climate change. It is also a symbol of the huge potential of prefabrication, which can achieve sustainability with flair in small and large projects alike.
What technical and aesthetic lines of research have been pursued to design the acclaimed itinerant installation?
What alternative uses can be embedded into common building materials?
Will architecture ever fully embrace circularity and net-zero waste?
In the hiatus between the dismantling of the pavilion from the V&A's courtyard and its rebuilding in Glasgow on the occasion of the COP26, the Directors of Nebbia Works will narrate the journey of the project, and will accompany us into their practice's workshop, where prototyping, simulation and manufacturing are always at the core of the design process.
