FORMA Seminar #35 - Designing Parametric Facades

Business & Professional

A journey in the role of digital simulations in the design of sustainable facades and a peek into the future, beyond Midjourney.

Digital simulations and advanced studies on materials can help finding innovative solutions for facades and to minimise carbon emissions.

The challenge is not only finding the right 'skin', but embedding performance, flexibility and sustainability in all the layers of a building.

What are the lessons that can be learnt from the natural world?

Who were the pioneers of parametric modelling and which of their insights are still relevant today, after the digital revolution?

What will be the role of AI in the study of facades, after the Midjourney hangover?

Mattia Santi is an Architect and Engineer with experience in Architecture, Real Estate and Computational Design. He is Co-Founder and Director at SASI Studio, an architecture, design and technology firm based in London.
