From Maggots to Matrons: Rituals and Myths in Nursing

Community & Culture

From maggots to matrons, enemas to egg white and oxygen, generations of nurses reminisce about a profession steeped in tradition. Claire Laurent’s Rituals & Myths in Nursing: A Social History, (Pen & Sword, 2019) explores the history behind those rituals, challenges the more absurd and celebrates the increasing complexity of the job that is nursing. The talk will be followed by a drinks reception and book signing.
