The Photographers' Gallery
Registration
For the launch of Giles Price's new work Restricted Residence, we are joined by the artist Giles Price for an intimate signing and launch at The Photographers' Gallery Bookshop in London.
Restricted Residence presents a unique perspective on the risk associated with resettling Japanese towns in the fallout zone of the Fukushima nuclear disaster. Experimental documentary photographer Giles Price used thermographic technology to chart the life of ordinary Japanese citizens returning to towns inside the exclusion zone β visualising the psychological unease and stress of those potentially afflicted by radiation, while rendering the everyday landscape as surreal and inverted.
The launch will begin at 6pm, and books will be available for purchase and signing. Free admission for all.
About the artist:
London-based photographer Giles Priceβs work examines environments affected by human presence. These include major structural interventions, landscapes transformed by mass gathering, human endeavour, even protest, as well as mankindβs impact on an environmental, economic and political scale. Through landscape images and portraiture, he often shoots in series, exploring how both mediums relate to each other. Price is a contributor to most of the major magazines in Europe and America, including The New York Times Magazine, FT Weekend Magazine, Guardian Weekend Magazine, Telegraph Magazine and Bloomberg Markets among others. His work is part of numerous museum and private collections around the world.
