‘Greening the LowLine’ – Creating Places for People

Other

Join us as part of the London Festival of Architecture for a stimulating walking experience exploring sections of the LowLine .

A walking tour through diverse neighbourhoods looking at some of the exciting urban greening initiatives along the Low Line spanning through London Bridge and Southwark with local community and nature at its heart – the tour will begin at 9 Holyrood Street and take approximately 45 minutes, circling through some of the adjacent archways to illustrate both conceptual and actual projects interventions. The tour will pass through Holyrood Street, Druid Street, Maltby Street market , Gibbons Rent and conclude with refreshments in the garden at Macfarlane + Associates, where a short presentation will illustrate further regeneration opportunities in the wider area.

The Low Line unlocks the potential of Southwark’s Victorian rail arches – opening up a walkway that runs along the base of the viaducts to create a new spine, supporting breathing spaces connecting communities and offering a distinct perspective on a well-known and ever-evolving part of town.
