How can trustees support place-based approaches?

Charity & Causes

The places where we live and work define who we are and what we do. They determine the nature of our relationships with the people around us and the nature of the communities that we create together. Over the past few years, place has moved up the agenda as one of the main foci of public policy. Place-based approaches are characterised by a shift away from centrally dictated policy, towards holistic and collaborative solutions that are defined, generated and delivered locally.

Aimed at trustees, and anyone interested in place-based working, this seminar will take a look at the charities operating across the UK, and internationally, that are increasingly considering more joined up working to achieve sustained social change.Β  Despite its prevalence, there is still a lack of clarity about what place-based working means and what it looks like in practice, let alone what role trustees might play.

This free seminar, run in partnership with the Clothworkers' Company, will:

  • Explore the central tenets of place-based approaches
  • Look at practical examples of place-based approaches and study the lessons learned
  • Consider the role of trustees in supporting place-based approaches and maximising their potentialΒ

Our speakers will be announced closer to the date of the event.

The event will begin at 4pm on 27 January and, from 6pm, will be followed by a drinks reception.
