How to land Pupillage if you have a disability

Other

We are delighted to have put this event together to ensure that barristers with a disability at the Bar are getting the support they need when applying for pupillage. There will be experienced barristers at the event to advise and review CV’s or applications respecting your confidentiality.

Future pupil barrister Isabel Baylis will be sharing her story on how she got pupillage and her involvement with Legally Disabled.

Hardwicke chambers will be giving a short talk about their work, what they have to offer pupils and what to expect from pupillage at Hardwicke. It is an opportunity to really get to know Hardwicke as a chamber beyond what you see from their website.

After the talks and pupillage advice you will then have an opportunity to network with a drinks reception to follow.

The event may be of nterest you if:

  • Student /person pursuing a career at the Bar
  • You have a Disability
  • Applying for Pupillage
  • You give advice/work with persons with a disability
  • Lawyer

Let’s come together and raise the Bar!

Definition of disability is set out in the Equality Act 2010

  • Physical or a mental condition which has a substantial and long-term impact on your ability to do normal day to day activities.
  • Progressive condition like HIV, cancer or multiple sclerosis, even if you are currently able to carry out normal day to day activities.
  • If you had a disability in the past. For example, if you had a mental health condition in the past which lasted for over 12 months.
