In Conversation with Isabelle Dupuy

Isabelle Dupuy is originally from Haiti. She moved to London in the late nineties to work in investment banking after having lived in New Haven and New York. Twenty years of life and love later, she has published her first novel, Living the Dream. It is the story of two immigrant mothers, one from Haiti and the other from Colombia who meet at the gates of a posh prep school in Hampstead. They feel they've cracked it, the secret to a success in North-West London and decide to write a book together. Only to discover that their tale of meritocracy and hard knocks is not as true or innocent as they had first imagined.

Isabelle has been published in the New York Times and was a regular theatre critic for Litro Magazine. Her short story β€˜Spring’ was a finalist for the Didcot Writers Award and her essay on writing was selected for the anthology Swallowed by a Whale, to be published by the British Library in 2020.

Join us at Teatulia as Isabelle discusses her new book, reads a short excerpt from her book, and answers any questions.

Please do cancel your ticket if you are no longer able to attend so we can give the ticket to somebody else. Please do feel free to arrive early to enjoy a drink at Teatulia before the event starts.
