Innovative approaches to LGBT+ Homelessness

Charity & Causes

One in four homeless people in the UK is thought to be LGBT +. Find out about innovative approaches organisations are taking to tackle this.

We are hosting an evening to explore innovative approaches to the LGBT+ Homelessness crisis and how as Housing professionals we can help.

We will hear from organisations who are carrying out pioneering work in this area and who are responsible for schemes such as the Outside Project and Jigsaw.

  • The Outside Project is a homeless/crisis shelter & Community Centre in response to those within the LGBTIQ+ community who feel endangered, who are homeless, β€˜hidden’ homeless & feel that they are on the outside of services due to historical & present prejudice in society & in their homes.
  • Jigsaw, deliver tailored support for 18-25 year olds in housing crisis. it is a partnership between three organisations: Stonewall Housing, the Albert Kennedy Trust, and Galop.
  • AKT - supports LGBTQ+ young people in the UK experiencing homelessness or living in hostile environments to find safe homes, employment, education or training and to celebrate their identities in order to improve their life outcomes.

Arrival and registration is between 6.30pm and 7pm , folllowed by speakers until 8pm and a drinks reception and networking until 9pm.

Thank you to Winckworth Sherwood LLP for providing the venue for the evening.
