Innovative approaches to tackling Hate Crime

Other

Homophobic and biphobic hate crime has doubled in three years. Find out the facts about hate crime and innovative approaches to tackling it.

One in ten people still think that LGBT people are β€˜dangerous’ to other people and could be β€˜cured’, according to a new report released by Galop

The Home Office releases figures detailing an alarming increase in anti-LGBT hate. Transphobic hate crime increased by 37% last year. Sexual orientation rose by 25%. Meanwhile, disability rose by 14%, race by 11% and religious hate by 3%. The figures cover the increase in recorded hate crime between 2017/18 and 2018/19.

We are holding the event in response to the surge in hate crime that affects our community.

We will hear from the leading LGBT+ anti-violence charity, GALOP about there work and there 'Hate Crime Report- 2019'.

We will hear from Richard Wilson, the Director of Stop Funding Hate, who are tackling hate by making hate unprofitable by persuading advertisers to pull their support from publications that spread hate and division.

Arrival and registration is between 6.30pm and 7pm, followed by speakers until 8pm and a drinks reception and networking until 9pm.

Thank you to Clarion Housing Group for hosting the event.
