In 2020, the UK government committed to building 40 hospitals by 2030 as part of a package worth £3.7 billion. But do we really need 40 new hospitals? What if that’s not what the pandemic-fatigued population really needs?
Consider the barbershop and the positive effect it has on men’s mental health. Even the NHS agree – so much so that they launched a training session for barbers last year to spot warning signs. If hospitals are places where they fix something broken, then shouldn’t we consider caring for our health when we’re designing buildings and places for our communities?
