As part of the experience on campus, you will be invited to participate in an interactive lecture with Professor Aleksander Greszczak speaking on "Mergers & Acquisitions – How to insure multinationals make value creative acquisitions ?". 

Mergers and acquisitions (M&A) are transactions in which the ownership of companies or their operating units are transferred or combined. A merger is a legal consolidation of two entities into one entity, whereas an acquisition occurs when one entity takes ownership of another entity's interest or assets. As an aspect of strategic management, M&A can allow enterprises to grow, change the nature of their business or improve their competitive position.

“Based on a real-life case Kraft’s acquisition of Cadbury, this lecture will answer the following questions (as it relates to the M&A market in general):

1. What strategies do companies employ to create shareholder value ?
2. Why is it that most M&A transactions destroy shareholder value?
3. What to do to ensure that acquirers create value for their shareholders?

About Professor Alek Grzeszczak

For the past 15 years, Alek has been working on behalf of Value Discovery Partners, a mid-size private equity investment fund focussed on emerging markets, and particularly in South-Eastern Europe.

Prior to VDP, Alek was a Vice President in the Telecom Investment Banking group of Salomon Smith Barney (now Citigroup Corporate and Investment Bank), where he spent 5 years, first in the New York office and later in London.

Alek is a finance faculty member at Cambridge University and at Hult (where he teaches on London, Dubai, Shanghai and New York campuses). In addition, he delivers finance courses to a number of Investment Banks in London’s City as well to corporate clients with Ashridge executive education. Alek is a graduate of Columbia Business School, and by previous life is a telecom engineer.
