London Talks: How Private Rent Needs to Change?

Community & Culture

We're in a rent crisis โ€“ The Cities of London and Westminster have some of the highest rents globally. This panel will discuss solutions

In the context of the wider housing crisis is it time to consider the role of private rental in our City?

From opaque property management to dangerously low building conditions, thereโ€™s public discontent with the sector and thereโ€™s a widespread feeling that the rent market isnโ€™t working.

Alicia Kennedy, director of the rental campaign Generation Rent, has said that โ€œdamp and unsafe homes were making too many private renters ill, and that an expensive winter would put people at greater risk.โ€

So how can policy change to improve this?
