The MELAS Unconference is a community-led gathering for senior mobile engineering leaders navigating the realities of scale.
Based on the successful London CTOs unconferences, this is an event entirely based around large scale mobile engineering. This isn’t a panel. It’s not a presentation. It’s a participant-led event where CTOs, Heads of Mobile, VPs of Engineering and platform leads come together to challenge assumptions, swap stories, and dig into the hard questions.
The format is deliberately informal — no presentations, no sales pitches. Just open discussions, breakout groups, and real-world insights from leaders managing mobile at scale.
If you have something you’d like to share with a group of mobile engineering leaders, or topics you’re curious about then this is the place to come and we can guarantee you’ll meet others who share your interest.
Whether you’re growing from 1 team to 5 or managing 30 squads across multiple platforms, the MELAS Unconference gives you space to reflect, connect, and explore what doesn’t get shared in case studies.
Who should come:
This is where mobile leaders go when they’re ready for the real conversation.
This event is being organised by RecWorks, sponsored by Novoda and hosted by Metro Bank.
Novoda is a mobile product engineering company that partners with engineering leaders to deliver mobile excellence at scale — from strategy to hands-on delivery. They’re also the team behind Londroid, Europe’s largest Android meetup, and an active force in the mobile community.
About RecWorks:
RecWorks are the creators of many groups and communities including Meet-a-Mentor – a free Slack group that introduces aspiring CTOs to experienced CTOs, as well as more junior developers. Over 3000 introductions have been made and counting.
They also founded one of the largest Java User Groups in Europe, the 8000+ strong London Java Community. They are a community-driven recruitment agency focussing on tech placements in London.
London CTOs is a 10-year-old London-based CTO community with over 1200 members.
